I ONLY SAY MORNING is the secret mission for the WRATH layer, and can be accessed through the mission [ 5-1: IN THE WAKE OF POSEIDON ]. It's located on a small, rainy, and grassy island with a single pond full of Fish in the middle, as well as two separate caves, a small cabin with two barrels of bait and a kitchen, a dormant Cerberus, a well, and a vast ocean surrounding the island.
Overview[]
Upon entering the level, the only thing that can be equipped is a fishing rod, which can be obtained from one of several barrels strewn throughout the starting area. Holding down the fire button will charge the power of the throw, with which the float is cast.
After casting the float into any water source and waiting some time, a red exclamation mark will appear above the float. By pressing the fire button again, one of twelve different Fish can be caught. The types of Fish that can be caught vary depending on the body of water (displayed in text while aiming) and the bait used, if any. All twelve Fish must be caught in order to complete the level.
The day progresses as Fish are caught. The level starts at dawn, advances to noon when three different Fish are caught, afternoon when six are caught, dusk when nine are caught, and finishes at night when all twelve are caught.
Major Areas[]
Lake[]
Located in the center of the map, a large pool of water with two fishing zones (Lake Waters and Deeper Lake Waters) and a large amount of Fish swimming around. Right in front of the spawn, a small pier is located that can be stood on while searching for Fish. Before the pier, there's a large campfire which can be used to lure in Cooked Fish.
On the opposite end of the Lake from the spawn point, a message-in-a-bottle can be located next to the shore to the Ocean, transcribed below:
Message in a Bottle[]
If you can read this, please help. I've been stranded on an island off
the shore for weeks now, and I'm running out of supplies.
I was drawn to ride the waves in hopes of finding the legendary size 2
fish. I had combed every inch of land and lake with no avail.
I deduced they must exist far out at sea, so I set sail with a
month's work of cooked fish, but the waves sank my ship before I could
find anything.
You're my last hope.
Set sail towards the big dipper, you will find me on an island there.
Bring me more fish and then leave so I may continue my search.
THE SIZE 2 FISH IS MINE.
Shack[]
A small house, located right from the spawn, containing Apple Lure and Malicious Face Lure, a bookshelf, and a stove with Pan Oil.
Trying to cook any Fish on the stove will display a message "Too small for this fish :^(".
Well & Fish Lab[]
The Water Well is positioned near the Shack. Jumping down into it will reveal a hidden Fish Lab underneath with a bunch of technical equipment, a book, and a poster with simplistic graphics and text reading "SIZE 2 I WANT TO BELIEVE" on it. The book is as transcribed below:
Insane Fisherman's Diary[]

SIZE 2.
In the upper-left corner of the room are three monitors. The monitor to the left displays a mysterious line graph, and the two stacked on top of each other to the right show the results of a scan. The bottom one also shows a radar detecting a PITR and two other fish (presumably a Trout and a Funny Stupid Fish (Friend), as shown in the text). The screens are as transcribed below:

Stream[]
Between the Waterfall Cave and the Lake, a Stream is seen which originates from the Waterfall Cave and feeds into the Lake.
Waterfall Cave[]
Located behind the waterfall. Inside, there's a Cave Pool which can be used for fishing.
Fleshy Cave[]
Located left from the Lake and blocked by rubble resides the Fleshy Cave with a Lake of Blood inside and a giant stalking eyeball. Entering it will play gloomy ambience. Submerging into the Lake of Blood reveals a second fishing spot at the bottom, the 'Lower Bloods.
The rocks can be destroyed by throwing a Bomb Fish anywhere near them.
The Ocean[]
On all sides of the island that the level occurs on, is a body of water called The Ocean, the only thing that can be caught here is the Shark, with or without bait. The Ocean's boundaries loop onto itself, similar to the ocean in [ 5-2: WAVES OF THE STARLESS SEA ].
Exit Shack[]
The Exit Shack opens up once all Fish in the level are caught. Inside the entrance is a Steam Leaderboard, ranking players by the size of Fish they caught. A small TV next to it plays a low-resolution video of V1 congratulating the player on being a good fisherman. The player can then leave using the Level Exit.
Catchable Fish[]
Testament IV[]
The Secret Terminal at the end of this level contains Testament IV.
"FATHER, WHY ETERNAL TORMENT? IS IT NOT

Trivia[]
- The Knuckleblaster is disabled in this level, necessitating the use of Bomb Fish to gain access to the Fleshy Cave.
- Ignited Bomb Fish will not explode as long as it is being held. Throwing it after the timer reaches 0 will instantly detonate the Fish.
- Cooking any Fish at the Campfire other than Funny Stupid Fish (Friend), PITR Fish, Trout, or Dope Fish will produce a charred lump and display the message "Cooking failed." These lumps will still work as bait for the Shark.
- The fishing rod is affected by the Dual Wield power-up, if it is spawned using Cheats. Doing so will break the fishing rod though, as only the first caught fish will properly display the UI.
- Fish caught in this level will appear in the Developer Museum aquarium.
- A bug allows the Eyeball to be caught without opening the Fleshy Cave, using flawed detection to cast into the Lake of Blood from the outside. The Lower Bloods cannot be fished in this way, however, so the cave must still be accessed normally to complete the level.
- Many of the fish are references to people or things.
- The PITR Fish is based on ULTRAKILL's lead programmer, PITR. The Fishing Terminal mentioning "Always ends up at the bottom of fish hierarchies" is in reference to his status as the dictionary definition of a bottom.[1][2]
- The Trout is a real-life species of freshwater fish and is not a reference in itself. However, its Fishing Terminal entry makes mention of "mask replicas", referring to the Captain Beefheart album Trout Mask Replica.
- The Metal Fish is a reference to the Metal Fish enemy from Amid Evil. The Fishing Terminal entry mentions the fish originating from lands far beyond, lining up with Amid Evil's vague fantasy setting. It uses the same model from the original game.
- The Chomper is a reference to the Chomper boss/Chomper's Son enemy from DUSK. Like the Metal Fish, it uses the same model from the original game.
- The Fishing Terminal entry mentions the fish originating from Pennsylvania, which is where DUSK takes place. However, their only appearance in the game is in E3M3, which takes place in another dimension. (which may also be Pennsylvania.)
- The Bomb Fish may be a reference to an item of the same name from Terraria, which itself may be a reference to the Bombfish enemy from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
- The Eyeball is the inexplicable eyeball gib that emerges from ULTRAKILL's typically-eyeless enemies.
- The Frog (?) is a reference to the monster from Iron Lung. It also uses the same original model, albeit shrunken down significantly.
- Its Fishing Terminal entry alludes to Iron Lung's setting, a moon filled with an ocean of blood, and the Frog (?) is caught at the very bottom of the Lake of Blood.
- The Dope Fish is a recurring easter egg in various video games. It is in reference to the Dopefish enemy from Commander Keen in Goodbye, Galaxy, and its location in the Water Well alludes to its home level, Well of Wishes.
- The Dopefish can also be found in [ 5-1: IN THE WAKE OF POSEIDON ].
- The Stickfish is based on a stick of butter, which is used in frying food, as well as a reference to fish sticks, a processed human food created by shaping minced fish meat into a stick, battering or breading it, then baking or frying it.
- The Cooked Fish is a reference to the human practice of using heat to prepare food for consumption. However, according to the Fishing Terminal, a Cooked Fish is said to be a distinct life form from any other fish, living in fire and only appearing when another Fish has fire applied to it.
- The Shark is based on Ikea's Blåhaj shark plushie, an item which has become popular among the transgender community and sexual submissives (or "bottoms"). This is alluded to in its Fishing Terminal entry mentioning how the fish was "A status symbol in human society" and that it was "A sign of femininity or 'those who receive'".
- The title of the level, "I ONLY SAY MORNING", is likely a reference to the popular meme which states, "I always say 'morning' instead of 'good morning' - because if it were a good morning, I'd be fishing."
- The top of the waterfall has a PITR plush, which appears to be regurgitating the waterfall. The plush appears to speak when approached, saying "It's a living."
- In the message-in-a-bottle on the far side of the Lake, the player is instructed to "set sail towards the Big Dipper". This constellation can be found in the nighttime skybox, but the skybox texture continuously rotates and the edges of the map wrap around, making it impossible to follow.
- While most of ULTRAKILL's level design is done by Hakita, PITR is responsible for both designing and programming 5-S.
- An early version of this level was present in the initial release of the Act II Update, and was accessible via console. Only two Fishes could be caught then - the Eyeball and the Funny Stupid Fish (Friend). Most of the level geometry was unfinished, with only the Lake and the Starting Elevator being available. It was removed in later patches.
- This level may only exist because of an email sent to Dave Oshry from the Video Game Fishing Association. However, it is also largely possible that the idea was developed independently of the email, since given the theming of Wrath and the precedent set by the other secret levels, there isn't much else 5-S could have been.
- As of Patch 13b, the top of the television at the end of the level does not register as a proper floor, putting the player in a perpetual falling state while on top of the television.
Size 2 Fish[]
- There is a global leaderboard at the end of the level that shows the player's best fish size and compares it with other players. Hakita and PITR are the only ones at the top, as they are the only ones to catch a Size 2 Fish.
- The Size 2 Fish is impossible to catch by a normal player. In the files, only specific SteamIDs are able to catch the Size 2 Fish, those being for the game's developers (Hakita and PITR are the only ones to show up on the leaderboard). All in-game hints alluding to catching a Size 2 Fish are simply red herrings.
- "Red herring" isn't a size 2 fish either
- Every changelog from the release of 5-S to Patch 15b has claimed to have "Fixed a bug that caused Size 2 Fish to be uncatchable", referencing a running gag in the changelogs of older versions of Minecraft, wherein the creepypasta character Herobrine was mentioned to have been removed from the game at least once every update cycle until 2020, despite having never been a feature of the vanilla game in the first place.
- This stopped with Patch 15c, which included a patch note saying "Fixed a bug that caused Size 2 fish to be catchable".

- The size two fish could potentially be the One Piece, but this is only a theory,
- A GAME THEORY!!!!!!
