All four (4) levels of Lust, including the secret level 😏

Lust is the second layer of Hell, in-between Limbo and Gluttony. This layer is reserved for the souls who desired sexual activity above all else. The punishment for this layer was heavy winds that would push the residents around without rest. However, Minos thought that eternal suffering was too cruel for those whose only sin was love. As such, when the angels pulled out of Hell during the crisis in Heaven caused by the Disappearance of God, ushered in the Lust renaissance, during which time the layer was converted into a massive city where the buildings would protect the husks within from public indecency laws. This renaissance was abruptly halted when Gabriel slew Minos, causing the parasites within him to begin controlling his corpse and destroying the landscape.

Lust introduces a few new enemies into the roster. The first of these are the Soldiers, which are first encountered in [ 2-2: DEATH AT 20,000 VOLTS ]. The Mindflayer is introduced in [ 2-3: SHEER HEART ATTACK ] and is meant to be the ULTRAKILL equivalent of a succubus. The end boss of the layer is none other than The Corpse of King Minos, fought during [ 2-4: COURT OF THE CORPSE KING ].

Lust introduces a few new mechanics to the game. The first of these are jump pads, used for quickly being propelled in a certain direction. A mechanic exclusive to this layer are the fuse boxes which must be destroyed to progress in a couple levels. Finally, there is the introduction of water, with [ 2-3: SHEER HEART ATTACK ] containing the first instance of underwater combat in the game. This layer also gives the player the ability to rail enemies in the level [ 2-2: DEATH AT 20,000 VOLTS ].

Trivia[]

  • The first level of Lust has 69 enemies, a reference to how 69 is an analogy to a sexual activity. However, this information is not relevant to gameplay because V1 lacks any form of sexual organs[citation demanded]. But how can we be sure?
  • Progress through this layer takes the player closer to the ground as well as closer to King Minos.
  • Lust is the only layer where only two new reoccurring enemies are introduced, as opposed to three in most non act-crescendo layers. Lust is also the only non act-crescendo layer to not include a true miniboss in any of its first three levels, for which the two Mindflayers in 2-3 appear to substitute.
  • Lust features bisexual lighting across it's levels. It is rumored that the entire city budget was spent on it alone. However, this theory remains unconfirmed.*
    • *was going to remove this but due to the official wikipedia article mentioning it, i will simply point that out
