Streetcleaners are Lesser Machines that first appear in the mission [ 1-2: THE BURNING WORLD ]. They serve as fast close-quarters enemies, spewing fire from their flamethrowers within close range.
Appearance[]
Streetcleaners are black and brown humanoid robots. Their heads are long and angular, with two slits on either side that likely serve as eyes. They have hazard stripes on their chest and red markings on their upper arms. Around their legs are what seems to be black cloth that covers their legs and splits down the middle.
Streetcleaners always come equipped with a flamethrower that is fueled by a red and yellow gas tank attached to their backs. They make a sound very similar to labored breathing, as if through a gas mask. Upon death, they make a distinct "beep" noise. When blown up via their gas tank, this death noise has a warbling tone to it.
Combat[]
Streetcleaners will constantly chase the player on foot, trying to get within close range in order to effectively flame them down. Their flame attack is signified by a blue flash before the fire spews out, dealing continuous damage as they track the player with the flames. When moving far enough out of range, the flames will cease. The fire from the Streetcleaner's flamethrower cannot be parried.
Streetcleaners have the unique ability of being able to dodge projectiles fired by the player. When a projectile is about to hit them, they quickly dodge to the side. This dodging ability has a cooldown of three seconds, during which the Streetcleaner is no longer able to dodge projectiles. In addition to projectiles, Streetcleaners also dodge the Whiplash and ground slams.
In addition to its dodging, the Streetcleaner is unable to be directly hit by Core Eject Shotgun cores and Rocket Launcher rockets from the front. When making contact with a core or rocket, the Streetcleaner will knock aside the projectile with its right arm. This ability has no cooldown. Despite this, the Streetcleaner is still vulnerable if it is caught in the explosion after deflection.
The gas tank on the Streetcleaner's back is a weak point, and can be shot to make the Streetcleaner explode, instantly killing it and damaging nearby enemies, including the player. The gas canister is still able to explode after the Streetcleaner's death, even if gibbed. Killing the Streetcleaner by splattering it, either by crushing it with a ground slam or causing it to take fatal fall damage, will always result in an explosion.

Terminal Data[]
For more information, see Terminal
TYPE: LESSER MACHINE
DATA:
Originally built as a way to purify the tainted air of cities after the climate catastrophe, Streetcleaners were made obsolete during the New Peace, and were repurposed as scouts for Hell expeditions. However, their urge to clean remained, and after the fall of mankind, they began burning any organic matter they came across in an effort to purify the world.
STRATEGY:
- Due to their combat experience, they can be tricky to take down with projectiles or explosives.- The canister on their back is a major weakpoint that can be shattered with a precision shot, such as a Marksman coin ricochet from behind.
- Point-blank attacks can also be very efficient, but must be performed quickly to avoid the fire of their flamethrowers.
Rending Apart[]
Streetcleaners are able to dodge nearly all projectile attacks, which include Shotgun pellets, Nailgun nails, shots from the Screwdriver Railcannon, and the Whiplash hook. In addition, they are unable to be hit by Core Eject Shotgun cores, and rockets, from the front, simply batting them aside when one makes direct contact with them. However, Streetcleaners cannot dodge hitscan weapons such as the Revolver, Alternate Revolver, the Electric Railcannon, and the Malicious Railcannon.
In order to kill a Streetcleaner with projectiles regardless, it's possible to bait out the Streetcleaner's dodge with an initial projectile and kill them during the three second cooldown period for their dash. Alternatively, after obtaining the Whiplash, they can even be baited out with that, as it is very fast and easily spammable. Streetcleaners also cannot deflect frozen Freezeframe Rocket Launcher rockets, causing them to detonate when walked into, which Streetcleaners will make no effort to dodge.
Revolvers are ideal for dealing with Streetcleaners, as shooting the Streetcleaner's tank with a Revolver shot will cause it to explode, instantly killing it. For this purpose, using the Marksman Revolver is advised, since ricoshotting a coin tossed behind a Streetcleaner will automatically target its tank. If a Streetcleaner dies without its tank detonating, the tank on its corpse can still be shot to cause an explosion. Doing this can be tricky for beginners, but remembering this tip may help. Quickly moving forward to boost a coin's angular momentum, and immediately moving in reverse will nicely line the shot up to hit their gas tank. The Sharpshooter Revolver can also be used to hit Streetcleaner's gas tanks, but it requires favorable room geometry.
If one wishes to kill a Streetcleaner in a very stylish fashion, they can perform a Coin Punch into the Streetcleaner, then toss another coin up and ricoshot it. The punched coin will hit the Streetcleaner, bouncing upwards above and behind it. Ricoshotting the second coin will send it into the first, sending it directly into the Streetcleaner's tank. Not only is this very satisfying, it will also yield sizeable style points.
When near areas with bottomless pits and death zones, a Streetcleaners' dodge can be exploited, as shooting projectiles at a Streetcleaner while near a pit can cause it to dodge over the pit and fall to its doom. The Whiplash is a reliable way to force Streetcleaners to do this.
If their dodge is on cooldown, the Streetcleaner can be Whiplashed into the air and immediately knocked back down with a Knuckleblaster. If not damaged too badly beforehand, they will survive the punch, and immediately be accelerated to terminal velocity, causing an explosion on contact with the ground. Although not as stylish or quick as using coins, this strategy doesn't require coins to use, leaving them open for other things.
An also really easy way of disposing of Streetcleaners, one or multiple at a time, is by jumping up and repeatedly ground slamming them. Unless you are on Brutal, there is absolutely nothing they can do about this.
A Streetcleaner will instantly die if fully submerged in any liquid. This can be done on several levels, such as [ 2-3: SHEER HEART ATTACK ], [ 3-1: BELLY OF THE BEAST ], [ 5-1: IN THE WAKE OF POSEIDON ], [ 5-3: SHIP OF FOOLS ], and [ 7-3: NO SOUND, NO MEMORY ]. They appear to be immune to the hot sand in the Greed layer, and can walk on it without harm. Being submerged in liquids does not award the player any style points.

Trivia[]
- They are named and somewhat designed after the Godflesh album Streetcleaner.
- The Streetcleaner was the first enemy modeled by Samuel2213, who also stated it to be his "Art Test" and was thankful for it being his breakthrough into professional work.
- Streetcleaners are currently the only enemies that can award the [+INSTAKILL] Style Bonus.
- This is easily done with the Marksman Revolver.
- Streetcleaners often spawn without teleport effects and from behind obstacles or breakable walls, giving the impression that they were already present in the level instead of being teleported in.
- Sometimes, walls that conceal Streetcleaner spawns can be broken manually to force the Streetcleaners to spawn early.
- Often times in levels, there are usually a pair of two Streetcleaners. The significance of this is currently not known.
- In the game files, several Streetcleaner assets are labelled "Flameboi".
- This is probably because they are bois that attack the player with flames.
- When the Alternate Nailgun was initially added, they had no animation for avoiding sawblades, and were seemingly unaffected by it.
- Upon a Streetcleaner's death, their garb disappears off their legs.
- This, the Idol, the Cancerous Rodent, the Stalker, and Something Wicked are currently the only enemies in the game to not have parriable attacks.
- With Invincible Enemies enabled, a dead Streetcleaner's canister will not explode when shot at.
- Radiant Streetcleaners will slide across the ground when given massive amounts of speed with Radiance.
- The speed also does not affect the rate of damage taken from the flamethrower.
- Streetcleaners are currently the only non-Husk enemy to scream when falling from a fatal height (apart from a certain red machine), and have their own unique scream.
- Streetcleaners often get mistaken for B-1 Battle Droids from Star Wars given their similar head shapes.
- If a ridden rocket is deflected by a Streetcleaner, turning the rocket towards the player (by making a full rotation) will cause the rocket to explode, almost like a parry.
- Upon fully being submerged in water, Streetcleaners will die immediately, similar to executing the Kill All Enemies Cheat. This is most easily observed in the Sandbox.
- It is unknown how Streetcleaners purified the air with fire.
- Streetcleaners are one of the few enemies in the game with a special spawn effect, with theirs being red. This is barely seen outside of spawning them yourself due to their constant ambush tactics, however.
- It is likely that Streetcleaners are made from a different manufacturer than Sentries and Drones are made from, due to the differences in their overall design.
- This is not confirmed, however.
- Hakita has stated a few times that when he doesnt know what to do, he'll commonly put 1-2 Streetcleaners around a corner, This can be seen multiple times throughout the game.
